John P. Rhode is the current managing partner of Hardy Erich Brown & Wilson and has been a shareholder in the firm since 2001. He is admitted to practice in all California trial and appellate courts, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals.
John’s practice focuses on the defense of health care professionals, medical groups, and hospitals in medical negligence cases. He has extensive experience handling all aspects of cases involving catastrophic injury, birth injury, wrongful death, elder abuse and parapalegia and has tried numerous medical malpractice cases to jury verdict. He also represents physicians and other health care professionals in licensing board matters. Additional areas of practice include business litigation and products liability defense.
John was born in Glencoe, Minnesota in 1959. He attended undergraduate school at the University of Minnesota, graduating with a B.A. in Business Administration in 1981. He thereafter attended the University of Minnesota Law School, receiving his J.D. degree in 1984. Following admission to the State Bar of Minnesota in 1984, Mr. Rhode was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1987 and has practiced in California exclusively since that time.
John is a member of the Sacramento County Bar Association, Northern California Association of Defense Counsel, and American Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Rhode has consistently been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer and as one of the Top Attorneys of Northern California. He serves as a Judge Pro Tem for both Sacramento and Placer Counties.
