Alexander Nowinski is an attorney with the medical malpractice and public entity defense teams at Hardy, Erich, Brown & Wilson. He specializes in the defense of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers in medical malpractice actions. Alexander has also represented California health plans in various matters including payor-provider disputes, Medi-Cal and Medicaid litigation, regulatory enforcement actions, and licensing.

Alexander leads the public entity practice at Hardy Erich. He focuses on the defense of public entities and employees in civil rights, employment, personal injury, and malpractice cases. The majority of these cases involve civil rights claims and related state torts, including police misconduct, employment, and personal injury cases.

Alexander has experience in all phases of litigation. He has argued successfully in state and federal trial courts and served as counsel of record on a number of appeals before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. After graduating from Santa Clara Law School, Alexander served as a law clerk in the chambers of the Hon. Dale A. Drozd of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California and at the Assembly Judiciary Committee of the California legislature. He currently serves as Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit for the Eastern District of California, as well as on the Eastern District’s federal pro civil rights pro bono panel and District planning committee. He is a member of the Kennedy Inn of Court. He enjoys time with his family, reading history, rugby, and his German Shepherd.
